The Green City Plan was created in 2019 and is our blueprint to creating a cleaner, greener, healthier and more sustainable city.

Green Grid Development

2020

An action in the Green City Plan is to develop a more "connected" city. Geodata at Southampton University were employed to start working on the Southampton Green Grid.

Green Grid Internal Consultation

2021

Complete

Council officers and cabinet members were consulted on the Green Grid. Comments on opportunities and constraints were then fed into the Green Grid mapping work.

We will analyse the comments from the internal and external consultation to help with the design of the Green Grid Map and Green Grid Action Plan. The external consultation responses will be made available for public viewing.

The draft Green Grid map will be finalised and a Green Grid Action Plan will be produced. Work will continue on developing appropriate council policy and guidance documents.
